Army Body Composition Program (ABCP)
The U.S. Army Body Composition Program uses a tape test to estimate body fat percentage for soldiers who exceed the weight screening table. Measurements are taken at specific body points using a measuring tape.
Maximum Body Fat Standards

How to Measure
- Neck: Measure just below the larynx (Adam's apple), tape sloping slightly downward at the front.
- Waist (men): Measure at the navel level, horizontally around the abdomen.
- Waist (women): Measure at the natural waist (narrowest point).
- Hip (women only): Measure at the widest point of the buttocks.
Take each measurement 3 times and use the average. Round down to the nearest half inch.
