Ideal Weight Calculator
Calculate your ideal body weight based on your height, age, and gender using multiple scientific formulas.
How is Ideal Weight Calculated?
This calculator uses four well-known formulas that estimate ideal body weight based on height and gender:
- Devine Formula (1974): The most widely used formula in clinical settings, originally developed for drug dosage calculations.
- Robinson Formula (1983): A modification of the Devine formula with updated coefficients.
- Miller Formula (1983): Tends to give slightly higher estimates than other formulas.
- Hamwi Formula (1964): One of the earliest ideal weight formulas, still commonly referenced.
Limitations of Ideal Weight Formulas
These formulas don't account for body composition, muscle mass, bone density, or ethnic differences. A muscular athlete may weigh more than their "ideal weight" while being perfectly healthy. Use these numbers as general guidelines, not strict targets. For a better picture of your health, combine this with our Body Fat Calculator and BMI Calculator.
